I was given a quote for moving furniture of $2049. Once the furniture was picked up the driver called with a revised price of $4100. I did a search for movers that could give us a rate that our budget could afford. We asked several companies for quotes. West Coast Movers gave us a quote that we could afford. After the furniture was picked up, the driver called us that evening at 10 pm saying he had to revise the fee. His new fee was suspiciously double the original quote. We asked for an explanation and he simply said to call the customer service line the next day. We called the next day, and were referred to another desk. We called that desk and left two messages and did not get a return call. We called again and West Coast Movers answered. She said that once the furniture is on the truck it cannot be put back and that she would need to personally check the cargo to see if it matched the itemized list in the original quote. This process took a few days and a few more phone calls. She finally called and gave us a revised price of $3680. This is almost $1700 over the original quote. The explanation she gave us was that the items were larger than was expected and that the way that it was packed in the truck took up more room. We gave accurate descriptions including sizes of the furniture pieces. We feel we're being charged for their mistake. This is unacceptable.
